Katrina: An Unnatural Disaster - Home
Photographs by Stanley Greene

In this selection of images, Stanley Greene documents the surreal, haunting landscapes and interiors wrought by hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The photographs span two years—from flooding, to clean-up, to the present day. While images of submerged neighborhoods and piles of rubble are now familiar in the public imaginary, recent photographs of still-damaged schools that remain closed attest to the slow pace of rebuilding and the urgent need to keep national attention focused on the Gulf Coast.
