Annette Foglino is an award-winning investigative journalist who specializes in reporting on social and legal issues for many national publications. In 2000, she received an Excellence in Crime Reporting award from the National Council on Crime and Delinquency. She has covered topics ranging from teen pregnancy to prostitution to the Mafia. Other topics include violent children and how the legal system can better protect students from pedophiles. She has written for New York magazine, Discover, Life, and Reader's Digest. She also has written for leading women's magazines, including Good Housekeeping, Glamour, and Marie Claire, on health-related topics as well as profiles of women who overcame obstacles to become leaders in their communities. She served as a reservist in FEMA's public information office during Hurricane Katrina. Foglino is currently working on a novel about courage and optimism in the face of disaster.
