Over the course of her 15-year career as a print journalist, Sara Catania has worked as a reporter at numerous local and national media outlets. In the 1990s, she served as a reporter at the Los Angeles Times for two years, and worked for seven years as a staff writer for the LA Weekly. Currently, Catania is a freelance writer on issues related to criminal justice, politics, and culture for the Los Angeles Times Sunday Magazine, Los Angeles magazine, and Legal Affairs. She is also a contributing writer for Mother Jones. She is the recipient of numerous fellowships, including the John S. Knight Fellowship at Stanford University in 2004 and an OSI Center on Crime, Communities and Culture Media Fellowship in 2002.
